Michael Cartellone

Born on June 7, 1963 in Cleveland, Ohio

Michael Cartellone has taken drum lessons for over 5 years. In order to get as much experience as possible in his craft, he joined many groups for tours.

In 1985, Michael went to New York City to find work. While searching, he took a day job in a clothing factory where he drew designs on children's shirts.

Finally in 1986, he had a stroke of luck and became the drummer for Tommy Shaw on his Ambition tour. Michael had his first taste of the big stage as Tommy was opening for Canadian group Rush on their American tour. After that, Tommy decided he needed a change and his band separated.

Michael found another job loading trucks while waiting for another opportunity. In 1989, when Ted Nugent, Jack Blades and Tommy Shaw decided to create Damn Yankees, they needed a drummer. Michael went and auditioned. He impressed everyone and got the job on the spot. Finally his talent as a drummer was really noticed with his contribution to Damn Yankees. The critics all agree that he is one of the best drummers around. In addition to two releases of Damn Yankees, Michael also participated in the album Hallucination by Shaw/Blades.

In 1998, Michael took part of Tommy's 7Deadly Zens tour and then joined the band Lynyrd Skynyrd.
